Refurbished desk

This is the desk that Rick found in the garbage the other day and refinished it as a replacement for my old desk.  It's beautiful solid mahogany.  What a find!

A light at the end of the tunnel

At last we have a closing date ... February 1st!

Last weekend we drove by to take another quick peak and found the "sold" sign up on the window.  Peeking through the window we saw that the place was emptied out.  As we wait for the day to arrive in our Brooklyn 1-bedroom apartment, we're doing a couple of fun things to prepare.

Rick found a solid mahogany desk in the garbage last week as he was walking around the neighborhood.  I was thinking about replacing my desk anyways and this was just the right measurements with the just enough drawers.  Rick sanded down the desk and applied lacquer and wood polish cream.  I have to say that Guardsman revitalizing wood polish cream did wonders!  I'll post pictures of the desk soon.

Another fun thing I'm doing is reading a mystery called Spackled and Spooked about the renovation of a haunted house.  It's a quick and entertaining read on the way home in the subway.  Hopefully the circumstances in the book won't scare us off from the project!
